Years passed during which Rebbi Eliezer was prevented from reaching the Beit Midrash. Sages lost his teachings and the many of his traditions he had. Specially in particular Rebbi Akiva who was his special student. He lost the controversy of Achnai's furnace. He did not compromise with the sages, even though the halacha [the Jewish law] is - singular and plural halacha as plural. But he did not give up his mind, without which there is no point in life, but what are years, even decades, in the face of eternity.
